Two Emmaus High School boys tennis players competed in the District 11 singles tournament last week.
Sophomore Chris Stone was seeded fourth in the 16-player Class 3A singles bracket. He beat his first opponent, Alexander Ahnert (Southern Lehigh) 6-2, 6-1.
In the quarterfinal round Stone beat No. 5 seed Daniel Trott (Pocono Mountain East) 6-2. 4-6, 6-0. In semifinals he met top seed Noah Rodburg and fell 7-6 (9-7), 6-0.
Emmaus senior Nick Stone was seeded sixth for the district singles tournament and beat Aarush Makwanna (Easton) 6-4, 6-1 in the first round. He fell to No. 3 seed Gideon Knowles (Nazareth) 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinal round.
Both Stones will return to District 11 play this week as the top-seeded pairing for the doubles championships.
Two other doubles pairings will also represent Emmaus at the doubles tournament, with both coming in unseeded. Cole Stuchko and Sai Uppiretia will play together while teammates Ayden Kegley and Caleb Brashear are also in the field of 16 doubles teams.
