Poll wins 100th career face off
The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team had a busy, three-game week last week. The Hornets won two of the three games, taking the two at Memorial Field, but dropping the one on the road.
Last Tuesday, April 22, Emmaus beat Moravian Academy, 17-1. Two nights later, however, the Hornets fell at Southern Lehigh, 14-7. They responded by defeating Crestwood Saturday, 10-9.
In the win over the Lions, there were 11 different players that found the back of the net, led by three goals from Sarah Gross. Abby DiComes finished with two goals and two assists and Rylie Poll and Taylor Younker each recorded two goals and an assist, while Ally Kusko tallied two goals. McKenna Guzik notched a goal and three assists and Brooke Peterson and Sofia Isaksson contributed a goal and an assist.
Maddie Lenig, Avery Aquino and Abbey Thomas rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Kate Newhard added an assist. Devin O’Neil made one save in net.
Against the Spartans, both Peterson and Younker led the attack with two goals. DiComes tallied a goal and two assists and Guzick added a goal and an assist. Poll netted a goal and recorded her 100th career draw control. Sarah Palazzo contributed an assist. O’Neil finished with nine saves.
In the victory over Crestwood, DiComes finished with two goals and two assists and Peterson and Gross netted two goals. Guzick recorded one goal and two assists and Isaksson had one goal and one assist. O’Neil ended with six saves.
Emmaus, which improved to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, hosted Saucon Valley this past Tuesday night in another nonconference game and then will play in its last East Penn Conference game at Parkland on Thursday night. The regular season finale is set for next Tuesday at Central Bucks West. The EPC playoffs will begin next Thursday night.
