PHS boys volleyball qualifies for EPC playoffs
The Parkland High School boys volleyball team is gearing up for the postseason and looking toward the upcoming Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and District 11 4A tournaments.
The Trojans split a pair of conference matches last week in the final week of the 2025 regular season, winning one on the road before falling in the home finale.
Parkland defeated Northampton in straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-22 last Monday, April 28, and then fell to rival Emmaus 3-1 by scores of 17-25, 25-21, 17-25 and 17-25 two days later.
In the victory over the Kids, senior opposite hitter Josh Nation hammered home 12 kills, while junior middle hitter Bear Jacobs and senior middle hitter Alex Schoch combined for 11 kills. Junior setter Gabe Chase handed out 27 assists, while sophomore libero Owen Barnett and senior opposite hitter Nick Bauer each had seven digs.
In the matchup against the Hornets, Nation led the offense with 14 kills while, Jacobs added eight kills and two blocks, while teammates Bauer added seven kills and junior opposite hitter Jude Ruisch added six kills. Chase dished out 30 assists and added nine digs, while Barnett also added nine digs.
Parkland, which is now 11-5 overall and 9-3 in the conference, earned a spot in the conference tournament as the fifth seed, a tie breaker was decided between the Trojans, Patriots and Blue Eagles with Nazareth the three and hosting sixth-seeded Dieruff and Freedom the four and hosting Parkland. The quarterfinal matchup is set up for this Thursday night at Freedom.
Emmaus earned the top seed and Whitehall the two seed, both receiving byes to the semifinals.
