Parkland girls lacrosse team clinches district playoff spot
The 2025 season has been a turnaround year for the Parkland High School girls lacrosse team.
At the end of 2024, the Trojans finished the regular season and then went into the offseason, not having qualified for the District 11 3A tournament.
But the 2025 regular season, which ended last week, finished on a high note as the Trojans qualified for districts and will be back in the postseason.
Parkland earned a 14-8 victory over Central Catholic on the road last Wednesday, April 30, and then fell in the home and season finale, 10-9, to rival Emmaus the next night in a game that determined the fourth and final playoff team in the East Penn Conference.
In the win over the Vikettes, the Trojans started fast, built up a big lead and never looked back.
They scored five goals in both the first and second quarters, while holding CCHS to just one goal in each quarter to go up 10-2 at halftime. Anna Sensinger led the attack with a game-high seven goals. Lila Temchatin finished with three goals and an assist.
Milla Hahn and Addison Winfield recorded one goal and two assists and each of Samantha Schippell and Olivia Esteban rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Cara Skrapits added an assist. Both goalies split time in net as Audrina Stewart finished with five saves and Katie Generose added three saves.
It was a back-and-forth game with the Hornets as the two teams were tied 2-2 after the opening quarter and Parkland held a slim 5-4 lead at halftime. The two teams each scored twice in the third quarter and Emmaus outscored the Trojans 3-2 in the fourth to force overtime, where a late goal allowed Emmaus to walk off with the victory.
Hahn and Winfield had hat tricks, with Winfield dishing out an assist. Sensinger totaled two goals and Schippell contributed one. Stewart ended with eight saves.
Parkland (9-9 overall; 3-5 EPC), will await its opponent to start the district tournament, which begins next Friday.
