New municipal building nears completion in North Whitehall Twp.
The North Whitehall Township Board of Supervisors meeting May 12 covered several key points.
After months of steady progress, the construction of the renovated North Whitehall Township Municipal Building is inching toward the finish line.
John Carson of the Pelorus Group projected mid-June for substantial completion, with township operations expected to fully transition into the new facility by mid-July.
Carson explained at a recent meeting, project managers provided an in-depth update on both the schedule and budget, reporting significant progress across key construction milestones.
Ceilings and flooring installations are underway and upcoming work includes casework and millwork, site improvements and the completion of exterior masonry tasks.
“The building is being power washed right now and scaffolding is coming down,” Carson noted. “We’re still on track and making really good progress.”
Perhaps most notably, the project remains $86,000 under budget.
Among the final touches still pending are the door replacement on the west side of the building, final landscaping and installation of site lighting and entrance bollards.
While the exterior work is nearing completion, the interior will require further setup after construction ends – including installation of furniture, Internet and phone systems.
When asked about when the township could host a public meeting in the new space, Carson suggested July would be a realistic target. “We’re going to reserve about a month post-completion for final adjustments and setup. The new municipal building is expected to significantly improve services and accessibility for township residents, offering a modernized space for meetings, training and township operations.
