Chris and Nick Stone earned the number one seed in the District 11 Class 3A doubles tournament and rolled through the competition, winning all four of their matches in two sets on their way to the gold medal.
The Stones highlighted the Emmaus High School boys tennis 2025 season, one which finished with a 15-4 record and 11-3 mark in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and were semifinalists in team districts.
Head coach Robert Dragotta was pleased with the postseason that his team and some individuals had.
“We had a good season,” said Dragotta. “The team finished 15-4 overall. The team was very close and enjoyed the season. We made it to the semifinals in the team competition. The players were very supportive of each other.”
The Stone brothers earned a berth at the state championships and will compete at the Hershey Racquetball Club on Friday.
Along with the Stones, two other doubles pairings earned medals at the EPC Tournament, including Sei Uppiretla and Cole Stuchko at No. 3 doubles earning silver and Caleb Brashear and Ayden Kegley receiving the bronze medal at No. 2 doubles.
Emmaus will graduate five players from the lineup, including Nick Stone, Brashear, Kegley, Quinn Durkin and Aayar Sevak.
“If the players returning, including the JV team, work hard in the off season, we should be very competitive next season,” Dragotta said. “The seniors will be missed and they gave a lot to our program, but we will continue to pick up where they left off and remain successful.”
