Emmaus boys lacrosse falls in D-11 quarterfinal

The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team has had a tough go of its first District 11 tournament games over the last three seasons, as they’ve suffered a trio of one-goal losses that ended their season. The 2025 District 11 playoffs were no different as the fifth-seeded Hornets fell to fourth-seeded Nazareth 11-10 last Thursday night at Nazareth High School in the quarterfinal round.

It was the second time Nazareth defeated Emmaus this year, having won 14-3 back on April 8.

Not having played for two weeks since its regular season finale defeat to Parkland and not having qualified for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Tournament, Emmaus did not show any rust and kept right there with the Blue Eagles, who were an EPC semifinalist.

The two teams each scored a pair of goals in the first quarter and Nazareth outscored the Hornets 3-2 in the second to lead 5-4 at halftime. But Emmaus came out of the break with a new energy and doubled up the Blue Eagles in the score column (4-2) to lead 8-7 after three.

The score was tied with just a couple of seconds remaining in regulation and Nazareth was on a man up because of an Emmaus penalty. Aidan Reilly ripped home a shot just as time was expiring that landed in the back of the Hornet net for the victory.

Kaleb Mains finished with a game-high five goals and both Anthony Attar and Alex Younker tallied two. Dylan Maloney rounded out the scoring with a goal. Jack Sullivan finished with eight saves in net for Emmaus.

Emmaus finished the year 9-10 overall and will graduate 14 seniors, including Ben Anders, Reilly Bechtel, Tyler Carter, Gabe Chies, Alex Collins, Reno Guastella, Max Lipski, Mains, Finnley Neyhart, Bryan Pipines, Lewes Sarver, James Schauer, Sullivan and Jewlien Torres.
