Concert in the Park series begins May 31

Upper Macungie Township will hold its Grub and Groove at Grange series 5-8 p.m. Thursdays until Sept. 25 in the parking lot Pavilion No. 1 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road. Come out and enjoy various food trucks and music.

The township’s free Concert in the Park series begins with Flower Power 6-9 p.m. May 31 at Grange Park. Concerts will be held monthly through October and will showcase six outdoor live music experiences.

Interested in learning how to play pickleball or want to improve your game? The township will offer several four-week summer sessions for participants ages 16 years and older.

The beginner level summer session II will run 5-5:45 p.m. or 6:50-7:35 p.m. and beginner/intermediate level will run 5:55-6:40 p.m. Mondays June 23 to July 14 at the Grange Park pickleball courts. Participants need to bring their own paddles.

Youth, teen and adult tennis lessons with tennis instructor Brian Bleam, will be held Mondays June 2–30 at Brookside Country Club. Class times vary by participant age. Participants must bring their own racquet.

Lil Athletics sports classes summer session I will be held Wednesdays June 11 through July 2 at Lone Lane Park. Class times vary by participant age. Lil Athletics uses age-appropriate equipment in a fun and positive environment. This four-week session is a great way to introduce your child to a variety of sports to see what your child may like before buying expensive sports equipment.

Upper Macungie Township’s My First STEM Mad Science Summer Camp for kids ages 4-5 will take place 9 a.m. to noon June 16-20 at Lone Lane Park. This five-day preschool camp offers young children an exciting introduction to science. With each session, children will enrich their understanding of topics like weather, air, magnets, space and so much more.

The township will show the movie “Aloha Summer: Moana 2” (PG) June 13 at Ricky Park, 5875 Ricky Ridge Trail, Orefield. Activities start around 5:30 p.m. and the movie will start as soon as the sun goes down.

Leading Edge Martial Arts, 3239 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown, will offer a women’s self defense workshop for participants ages 12 and older 7:30 p.m. June 18. Preregistration is required.

Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown, will hold its 126th annual Strawberry and Ice Cream Festival 6-9 p.m. June 6. This event will be held rain or shine. Music will be performed by Keith Brintzenhoff. There will be games and face painting for kids along with plenty of refreshments and food. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 8227 Hamilton Blvd., Trexlertown, will hold a yard sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 7. There is a cost for vendor tables. Hot dogs and water will be available for sale.
