ACCHS Baccalaureate Mass May 29

The Allentown Central Catholic High School Prom was held May 10 at DeSales University. Congratulations to Keenan Michalak and Lindsey Yen for being named Prom King and Queen. Devon Theophille and Priscila Esquea were named Prom Prince and Princess.

On May 13, ACCHS celebrated the May Crowning of our Blessed Mother Mary. The Mary statue was crowned by the 2025 Bishop’s Scholar Award recipient Lucas Mushrush and Bryn Lawler, who stood in for Bishop’s Scholar Award recipient Therese Gasser.

The 2025 Spring Sports Awards were held May 13. The Vikette softball MVP is Gianna Menecola. The boys track and field MVP went to Duke Ebert. The girls track and field MVP is Angie Braun. Matt Keenan was named the boys tennis MVP. Vikette lacrosse’s MVP is Kate Raymond.

The MVP for student athletic trainers was given to Kimaya Oquendo. The MVPs for boys baseball will be announced at the end-of-season banquet. The George Kinek Male Athlete of the Year is Jahrel Vigo. Milly Wolf was awarded the Rosemary Duddy McFadden Female Athlete of the Year Award and the 12 Varsity Letter Award for volleyball, basketball, track and field and lacrosse.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Spring Scholar Athletes are as follows: Charlie Hahn (baseball), Noah Zimmerman (boys track and field), Angie Braun (girls track and field), James McCarthy (boys lacrosse), Kate Raymond (girls lacrosse) and Matt Keenan (boys tennis).

Congratulations to the track and field District XI Championship Medalists. Milly Wolf earned first place in the girls high jump. Angie Braun came in second place, Milly Wolf came in third and Emerson Springs received fourth place for the girls long jump.

Juliana Bartkus, O’Neill Ford, Cate Haring and Addie Kehoe-Huck earned fourth place in the girls 4x8 relay. In the boys 4x8 relay, Duke Ebert, Tommy Grubb, Will Haring and Gavin Mahon placed second. Great job to Haring who earned third place in the boys 3200-meter run.

Congratulations to the ACCHS Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science participants who presented their work at the state level. All of our participants earned a second place award. Great job to Shane Bingaman, Sarah Doan, Priscilla Esquea, Bridgett Kloiber, Kathryn Kloiber and Maddie Kouvaros.

Seniors celebrated their last day of school May 22 with Kona Ice and a water balloon fight. The Baccalaureate Mass will be held 7 p.m. May 29 at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Sienna. Graduation will be 7 p.m. May 30 in Rockne Hall.

The 16th annual ACCHS Football Golf Tournament will be held June 7 at Whitetail Golf Club. Registration will be 7-7:45 a.m. and the tournament begins 8 a.m. The format is four-person scramble and there is a cost per golfer or a foursome cost. This includes greens fee, a cart, snacks, drinks and a catered lunch. Email jreichard@acchs.info for the registration form.

Throughout the summer, ACCHS holds free middle school summer enrichment camps. Students entering fifth to eighth grade are welcome to attend for reading, writing and STREAM activities. Camps are held 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. July 7-11 will be a Pirates Week Camp. July 14-18 is a Food Frenzy theme and July 21-25 is Carnival Week. Any ACCHS student requiring transportation for the 2025-2026 school year must complete a Request for Transportation Form as soon as possible. The form can be found at www.acchs.info/transportation.

Fall 2025 sports registration is now open. In order for students to be eligible for ACCHS athletics, the FamilyID registration, ImPACT test and physical must be completed by Aug. 1.

Editor’s Note: We thank Rachel for her excellent work as our ACCHS reporter. Rachel will attend Penn State University main campus in the fall to study pharmacology and toxicology.
