Celebrating the flag at Emmaus Community Park

The Borough of Emmaus will hold its community yard sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 31. No permits are required to participate.

Also on May 31, the Emmaus Rotary Club will host Summer Festival 2025 at Emmaus Community Park, 1356 Shimerville Road, Emmaus, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The event includes food trucks, kids activities, arts and crafts and entertainment with Cumulus Radio 10 a.m. to noon, Scott Marshall and The Highway Souls 1-3 p.m., Flirting with the Mob 3:30-5:30 p.m. and the Craig Thatcher Band 6-8 p.m.

The Emmaus Flag Day celebration will be held 2 p.m. June 14 at Emmaus Community Park in the Arts Pavilion, sponsored by the Emmaus Rotary Club. Emmaus residents, friends, local veterans, Scout Troops and area dignitaries are invited. East Penn students in fifth and eighth grades will ready their winning poetry and essays about “What the American Flag Means to Me.” The guest speaker is David Binder, a two-tour combat Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Refreshments will be served.

The Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon June 5 in the lower level of the Macungie Memorial Park Hall. New members are welcome. The next meeting will take place Sept. 4. For more information, call Dot at 610-967-3284.

The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

The historical society’s next program and membership meeting won’t be until September but join them for their member appreciation picnic 5:30 p.m. June 18 at Emmaus Community Park. Those attending are asked to bring either an appetizer, side dish or dessert. Call the office at 610-966-6591 to RSVP with the number of people attending and what you will be bringing. Non-members are welcome to attend but a small charge will be collected to include food and a membership for the remainder of 2025.

Come out and join the historical society at Yergey’s May 31, for a matching tip FUNdraising event, noon to 9 p.m. Have fun all day and enjoy music by Woodside Avenue 5-8 p.m.

On June 28, the historical society is participating in Passport to History Weekend. The museum will be open as usual but the society is sponsoring a free tour of God’s Acre 11 a.m. to noon. Call the office to reserve a spot.

On June 1, the Kiwanis Club of Emmaus will host its 50th annual Pancake and Sausage Festival 8 a.m. to noon. Show up hungry to Emmaus Fire Co. #1, located at Sixth Street and Broad Street in Emmaus, for all-you-can-eat pancakes. There is a charge; children 8 and under attend for free. Raffles, music and some special guests will be in attendance.

The Women’s Alliance of St Ann’s is sponsoring a weekend of fun in the sun. Located at the St Ann’s gym, 435 S. Sixth St, Emmaus, noon to 6 p.m. May 31 and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 1. There will be raffle prizes, gift baskets, gift cards and a silent auction along with a 50/50 cash drawing.

Join the Emmaus Recreation and Entertainment Commission, Borough of Emmaus, Kelly Auto Group and Vinart Dealership for the 2025 Emmaus Summer Entertainment Series. The services will include Tunes in the Triangle, Shakespeare in the Park and Concerts in the Park. Join them for a free concert at the Emmaus Community Park 6-8 p.m. on the following dates: The Castaway Band will play June 1, Little Green Shack June 8, the Kutztown Bagpipe band June 22 and Brake for the Turtles June 29. The Emmaus Chorale will present its spring concert 3 p.m. June 8 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3001 N. Second St., Emmaus. The diverse program features tunes from Broadway including, “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd,” folk songs from the Appalachians and even a sea shanty from New Zealand, “The Wellerman.” The concert is free to attend.

The Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus, has a number of events for folks of all ages.

The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival brings its traveling company to the library 3-4 p.m. May 30 to share Bardi shenanigans. Open to everyone, this event will take place in the library’s parking lot, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs.
