Letter to the Editor: NASD keeps raising taxes

To the Editor:

Four percent — that’s the tax increase Northampton Area School District wants from us. Inflation is going down, but not at the Northampton Area School District.

It’s the same game every year. We’re told they need a double-digit increase, and then, when they finalize a lower increase, we’re told they saved us money. It’s just another lie every year.

We were told gambling would lower our taxes — a lie. We were told the warehouses will lower our taxes — another lie. If the school district would stop building the empire and concentrate on teaching the students, maybe we’d see a better end result.

Why does anyone think parents are sending their kids to charter schools? Maybe it’s the lack of quality in traditional public education. More money and new buildings alone don’t make the kids any smarter. That’s been proven many times over by nonpublic education.
