Robert Durdock

Robert Durdock, 90, of Emmaus, died May 17, 2025. He was the husband of Corrine Durdock.

Born in Shamokin, he was the son of Jacob and Catherine (Stellmach) Durdach.

He played basketball and baseball for Shamokin High School and was named salutatorian in 1953. He was awarded a full academic scholarship to Lehigh University, where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He graduated in 1957 with a degree in civil engineering and later earned his MBA from George Washington University.

He worked at Lehigh Portland Cement Company during college and worked at the Sandt’s Eddy Plant in Easton during summers. He worked in Mason City, Iowa, as a surveyor; Buffalo, N.Y., as a plant engineer; and Lakawanna as a plant manager. In 1968, he was promoted to plant manager of the Union Bridge, Md., plant. He was promoted to vice president of operations in 1985 and the family moved to Emmaus. He retired in 2000 after 45 years with Lehigh Portland Cement Company.

He scored a hole in one at the Willow Brook Golf Course.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Andrew and wife Naomi of Edgewater, Md., Diana Rieser of Middletown, Md., Thomas and wife Terri of Knoxville, Md., and Pamela and husband Matthew Fenstermaker of Macungie; three grandchildren, Rebecca Rieser and husband Patrick Hatfield of Thurmont, Md., Matthew Rieser of Middletown, Md., and Alek Fenstermaker of Macungie; a brother-in-law, Richard Esher and wife Christina of Morrisville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Paul; and a sister, Caroline.
