Parkland Community Library offers programs for kids, teens, adults
Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will be closed May 24-26 for Memorial Day.
Baby Story Time for kids ages birth to 15 months with an adult caregiver will be offered 9:30-10 a.m. May 16.
The library staff will share simple books, lap bounces, rhymes and songs – all designed to help babies build important social, motor, and early literacy skills.
Toddler Story Time with Ms. Audrey and her ukulele will take place 10:30-11 a.m. May 16.
This drop-in story time is best suited for ages 1-3 years old with a caregiver.
Game day for adults will take place 1-2:30 p.m. May 16.
Adults can join library staff for “Piece by Piece,” an engaging library program where puzzle enthusiasts can gather to work on challenging puzzles and swap puzzles to enjoy at home 1-2:30 p.m. May 16.
Cardmaking with Sending Sunshine program for teens ages 12-18 will be held 4-5 p.m. May 16.
Earn volunteer hours making cards for seniors.
A Teen’s Dungeon and Dragon Night for kids in grades seven through 12 will take place in-person 6-8 p.m. May 19.
The library will be holding a Senior Safety: Tech Privacy and Security workshop for seniors 11 a.m. to noon May 20.
This workshop will provide seniors with the essential knowledge to identify and protect themselves against the latest scams. This session is open to all, regardless of experience or expertise.
The library’s Idea Lab for adults interested in exploring new ideas and creating something unique will take place 1-8 p.m. May 20.
The library will host its George and Martha Washington Love Story with Alisa Dupuy 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 21.
This presentation seeks to educate people about this important couple and those who surrounded them and helped them achieve all they did.
The teen drawing club for students in grades 5-10 will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 21.
Drawing materials and snacks will be provided.
Yarn lovers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend the Fiber Arts Not Just Knitting group 2-4 p.m. May 22 and 29.
Bring your materials for an afternoon of knitting with friends and swapping tips.
The library’s Stuffed Animal Sleepover Adventure for kids ages 4 and older will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 22.
Bring your stuffy, share some cookies and milk and a bedtime story before leaving your stuffy behind for their big sleepover at the library.
When you pick up your stuffed animals after 11 a.m. the next day, you’ll receive a photo album documenting their sleepover fun.
1-2-3 Play with Me for children ages 1-3 years old and their caregivers will be held 9:30-11 a.m. May 23.
A different child development professional will interact informally, give advice and provide community resource information each week.
Siblings under the age of six years old may attend.
Adults join library staff for a DIY Day 10 a.m. to noon May 27.
All materials and supplies will be provided.
Adults, join library staff 1-2 p.m. May 27 for the Death Cafe, where staff will create a safe and welcoming space to discuss mortality and make the most of our finite lives.
Engage in meaningful conversations, share your experiences and explore your thoughts on these profound topics with others in the community.
The Nighttime Knitters will meet 6-8 p.m. May 27.
Knitters are encouraged to bring their current project and knowledge to help those in attendance.
The Teen Advisory Board for youth ages 12-18 will meet 6-7 p.m. May 27.
Tom Hall Auctions: Downsizing and Auctioneer Assistance Program for adults will be offered 6-7 p.m. May 29.
Discover effective strategies for downsizing, the benefits of auctions and how to maximize the value of your belongings at this informative session with Tom Hall Auctions staff.
The Rebel Girls Club based on the book series “Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls” will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 29.
This club is intended to empower young girls ages 8-12 to grow up confident and inspired to do great things.
Activities will include creating vision boards and confidence boxes, setting goals and learning how a weekly planner can help plan ways to make an impact and be extraordinary in our families and communities.
