The Friends of the Lower Macungie Library Spring Book Sale will be held in the Lower Macungie Library. Preview night for Friends’ members will be 5-7:30 p.m. May 15. Memberships will be available at the door. The sale is open to the public 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 16 and 17, with the bag sale starting 2:30 p.m. May 17.
May 17
The Lower Macungie Garden Club will hold a plant sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center, 3450 Brookside Road.
May 18
Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville, will hold an organ recital 4 p.m. to celebrate the church’s new organ. Allen Artist Rudy Lucente will perform. He has performed at Convention Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., Longwood Gardens and on the Wanamaker Organ in center city Philadelphia.

Join the Emmaus Historical Society for the next program at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, 7 p.m. when Maggie Fischer and Dr. Mike Waddell present a program on the history of the Knauss Homestead and the Emmaus Remembrance Garden, connected in history by property lines.

May 26
Emmaus Memorial Day Parade. There are changes to the upcoming Memorial Day Parade Route. The parade participants will gather in the parking lot on Main Street between Buss Paints and Armetta’s Restaurant 9 a.m. There will be a flatbed truck for those participants who would prefer to ride rather than walk the parade route.
The parade will exit the parking lot starting 9:30 a.m. and proceed west on Main Street to Fourth Street. It will then proceed north on Fourth Street for two blocks and end at the newly dedicated Emmaus Veterans Memorial Triangle Park at North Street. Because of the shorter distance, they are hoping to have a larger contingent of veterans and residents march in the parade. Please contact family, friends and veterans about the change and encourage them to participate in the parade and contribute to this very important event. The ceremonies at the park will begin 10 a.m.

Dana Bila will bring the program “Unraveling History: Textiles and Quilts in the 18th and 19th Centuries” to the Upper Milford Historical Society meeting 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St.

St. Ann’s Church, 435 S. Sixth St., Emmaus, will host “Fun in the Sun” noon to 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 1 in the school gym. Event includes raffle prizes, gift baskets, gift cards, silent auction, 50/50 cash drawing, bake sale and door prizes.

The Emmaus Kiwanis Club will host its 50th annual Pancake Festival 8 a.m. to noon at Emaus Fire Co. #1, 50 S. Sixth St., Emmaus.
June 3
Karen Campbell, award- winning nature photographer and certified pollinator steward, will present the program titled “Discovering and Photographing Garden Pollinators” at the meeting of the Emmaus Garden Club noon at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus.All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
June 11
Emmaus Garden Club bus trip to Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum. This 50-acre estate is located along the banks of the Delaware River, just north of Philadelphia. The site includes the Big House, a Greek Revival mansion built in 1797 and the extensive public gardens and arboretum. The bus departs Weis Market, Emmaus, 8:15 a.m. and returns to the market 5 p.m. The cost includes deluxe motor coach transportation and admission to the grounds. June 14
Emmaus Flag Day celebration 2 p.m. at Emmaus Community Park in the Arts Pavilion, sponsored by the Emmaus Rotary Club. Emmaus residents, friends, local veterans, Scout Troops and area dignitaries are invited. East Penn students in fifth and eighth grades will ready their winning poetry and essays about “What the American Flag Means to Me.” Guest speaker is David Binder, a two-tour combat Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Refreshments will be served.
June 21
Upper Milford Township Recreation Committee, UMYA and Upper Milford Township will host a Jasper Day Celebration at Jasper Park, 4960 Vera Cruz Road, 1-4 p.m. The family-friendly event will include the Tour de Vera Cruz 5K Trail Run, the 1.5K Family Summer Stroll as well as games and fun on the park playground.
June 30
The Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will host Bob Roeder in the program “Moving Traditions of the Pennsylvania Germans” 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. Roeder will talk about the traditions, superstitions and other facets of moving from an old home to a new one used by Pennsylvania Germans.
