ACCHS’s ‘Shrek’ recognized with five Freddy nominations

Allentown Central Catholic High School athletes have been achieving great accomplishments.
Shout out to Jahrel Vigo for being named Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
Great job to Duke Ebert who won the boys 1600 meter run at the Zephyr Invitational Track and Field meet and came in third in the 800 meter.
Bruno Lucci, Class of 2025, competed in the Pennsylvania High School Powerlifting Association Meet April 27, earning first place and being named best lifter. This is Lucci’s third consecutive year winning a state title and the best lifter award.
Jack Restino, Class of 2026, scored his 100th career goal during the boys lacrosse win over Parkland April 29. Chris Burke, Class of 2025, achieved his 400th career save.
Lacrosse player Kate Raymond, Class of 2025, recently scored her 200th goal.
Great job to the ACCHS Science Olympiad team who took part in the state competition held at Penn State, Altoona, April 26. Team members George Nimeh and Kara Klucharich came in sixth place.
Student Council inductions took place April 28, thanking the Class of 2025 representatives for their leadership and welcoming new members. The ACCHS Central Committee for the Class of 2026 includes President Calvin Richardson, Vice President Emerson Springs, Treasurer Cate Haring and Secretary Shamiya Roberts.
The National Honor Society Coffeehouse was held April 29, showcasing the talents of ACCHS students. Congratulations to the winners: first place - Ella Patterson and Therese Gasser; second place - Lucas Mushrush and third place - John Craig, James Raynock, Francis Roscioli and Aidan Winas.
Viking tennis defeated Lehighton in the first round of the District XI playoffs May 7, advancing to the semifinals versus Saucon Valley May 8. The team played in the District Championship May 10.

ACCHS’ “Shrek the Musical” was nominated for “Outstanding Technical Design by a Smaller School,” “Outstanding Use of Costumes” and “Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School.”
Sarah Jarrett received a nomination for “Outstanding Technical Contribution by a Student.”
Charlie Strzelecki was nominated for “Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role” as Shrek.
Congratulations to the 2025 Bishop’s Scholar Award Recipients, Therese Gasser and Lucas Mushrush.
Congratulations to Priscilla Kofroth for being named the Class of 2025 Valedictorian. Kofroth will attend Furman University and major in neuroscience. Molly Gibson was named Salutatorian and will attend Notre Dame.
Auditions for the 2025-2026 ACCHS Dance Team will be 9 a.m. to noon May 17. There will also be an optional pre-audition workshop 3:30-5 p.m. May 15 in Masson Auditorium. All current and incoming students are welcome to attend. Email amotley@acchs.info or danceteamacchs@gmail.com to register.
ACCHS cheerleading tryouts will be held 1-4 p.m. May 17 and May 18 in Masson Auditorium. Attendance is required both days. Please wear athletic attire, sneakers, hair up and no jewelry. Incoming ACCHS freshmen and current students are invited.
Upcoming Vikette Volleyball clinics for incoming freshmen will be held 1-5:30 p.m. May 18, 6-9 p.m. May 21 and 4-9 p.m. May 22.

Join us 4:30-7:30 p.m. May 23 at Jordan AC for an opportunity to meet the ACCHS football coaches. There is a cost per person at the door that includes two free drinks and appetizers. The event is age 21 and older and will include raffles and a 50/50 to benefit ACCHS Football.
