Emmaus Kiwanis Club hosts 50th annual pancake and sausage festival
From 8 a.m. to noon June 1, the Kiwanis Club of Emmaus will present its 50th annual Pancake and Sausage Festival.
The event will be held at Emmaus Fire Company #1 located at Sixth and Broad streets in Emmaus.
There is a cost. Attendees may partake of unlimited pancakes. Children 8 years and younger eat for free.
As stated on the club’s website, “[Kiwanis is] a service organization … Kiwanians … volunteer [their] time to make our communities and world better places in which to live and work.”
To fulfill this mission, the Kiwanis Club of Emmaus sponsors numerous community events throughout the year. These activities include, but are not limited to, a Special Needs Holiday Party, yearly road clean up and the community Easter Egg Hunt, which recently featured 10,000 plastic filled eggs.
The festival is the club’s largest fundraising event and club members, Key Club members and Builders Club members work together to ensure its success.
The Key Club is composed of high school students who work in conjunction with and are supported by their local Kiwanis Club. Builders Club is a Kiwanis sponsored leadership program for students in middle school.
The money raised provides scholarships, funds youth activities and underwrites community projects.
Over time the festival, originally titled the Kiwanis Pancake and Sausage Breakfast, has altered not just its name but also the number and variety of attractions it includes.
A children’s books giveaway, outdoor dining, DJ, guest servers, and mascots, as well as the Emmaus Fire Department and EMS in attendance with their equipment are all part of the fun.
In recognition of this year’s major anniversary, four very special raffle prizes are also being offered: a bicycle, and three sets of four Dorney Park admission tickets.
