EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My father’s name is Sean and my mother’s name is Julie; I have two siblings: my sister’s name is Katie and my brother’s name is PJ. Lastly, I have two dogs, a Dachshund named Lily and a Golden Retriever named Ellie.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject in school is social studies because I love learning about different cultures and how the past has shaped the world into what it is today.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I’ve received an award for Excellence in Math, as well as Principal’s Honor Roll and Academic Excellence throughout high school. I’ve also received an AP Scholar Award.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am involved in a few extracurricular activities, such as marching band, history day club, astronomy club, National Honor Society and choir. Being involved in these activities has provided me the opportunity to explore and engage in my interests; moreover, it’s allowed me to make connections with new people and made my high school experience overall more enjoyable!

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date is definitely handling the stress of my high school classes and extracurricular activities on top of applying and preparing for college. It’s very easy for me to become overwhelmed with class work and the uncertainty of the future; however, I feel it is necessary to learn how to navigate through those challenges.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal after high school is to attend North Carolina State University to study architecture.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. If I could spend an evening conversing with a historical figure, I would choose to talk to the Greek philosopher Socrates. I would like to talk to Socrates because aside from my interest in philosophy and morality, most of what is known from Socrates is through secondary sources, and I’d like to hear his specific ideologies without the influence of other people.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for helping my peers and being a positive influence on my surroundings.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice for my peers is to never doubt yourself. If you set your mind to something, you will be able to achieve it so long as you believe you can.
