William E. Carmody

of Fogelsville

William E. Carmody, 66, of Fogelsville, died April 25, 2025 at his home. Born in Providence, R.I., he was a son of the late William E. and Irene (Dickson) Carmody.

Since 1987, he owned and operated First Generation Visual Communications Inc. & TechniCom Audio & Visual Inc., both located in the Lehigh Valley, leading the companies to impressive heights in the industry and winning multiple awards for mastery in his field.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he proudly served as a paratrooper in the 509th Airborne Division with tours overseas and across the United States. He was a devoted father and grandfather who centered the success of his children in all facets of his life.

In addition to his family, he showed tremendous generosity constantly supporting those in need. As an avid philanthropist, he served on the board of directors for Valley Youth House and was involved with the United Way, Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council and the Reading Brigade. He contributed extensively to numerous nonprofit organizations across the Lehigh Valley. His actions reflected a genuine commitment to others and his generosity left a lasting impact on everyone that he met.

He was also a lover of hockey; playing as a young man, coaching, serving as the president of the Lehigh Valley Comets Hockey Association and was an original sponsor of the PP&L Hockey Arena and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

A self-proclaimed historian, he was well read in military history and had a seemingly endless wealth of knowledge on the topic. He particularly loved his time spent in Italy, where he enjoyed living up the Italian lifestyle, sipping cappuccinos by the piazza and using his Italian language skills to make new friends. He approached life with a true purpose. His presence was unmistakable and his influence extended across many communities and lives.

He is survived by his children: William III and his wife, Melissa, of Fogelsville; Christina McShane, of Coplay; Patrick and his wife, Michelle, of Hampstead, N.C.; grandchildren, Kyla, Ashlyn and Kellan; siblings, Judith Grogan, of Compton, R.I.; Susan, of Forestdale, Mass.; Maureen Springer and her husband, Richard, of Plympton, Mass.; Mary Morse, of Plympton, Mass.
