Recycling event May 3

Upper Macungie Township will hold an electronic recycling event 9 a.m. to noon May 3 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road. Items accepted will include TV monitors (three max), computers/monitors, microwaves, household batteries and fluorescent light bulbs. No appliances will be accepted. A fishing derby for big and little kids will be held 9-11 a.m. May 3 at Apple Park Ponds, 1935 Packhouse Road, Fogelsville.

Bring your poles, bait and skills for a morning of fishing fun.

Residents surrounding Kay Brook Park are exclusively invited to attend the township’s first movie of the season, “Toy Story” (PG) May 9. Activities start around 5:30 p.m. and the movie will start as soon as the sun goes down. The night will also feature a ribbon-cutting celebration of the brand-new playground construction and food trucks, yard games and more.

Upper Macungie Township’s Grub and Groove at Grange series will take place 5-8 p.m. starting May 15 in the parking lot Pavilion No. 1 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road. Come out every Thursday until Sept. 25 and enjoy various food trucks and music. For more information on these events, go to uppermac.org.

The Sunday school at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Church Road, Breinigsville, will hold a Red, White and Blue themed tea party 2 p.m. May 4 in celebration of the church’s 275th anniversary.

In addition to delicious tea, there will be games, raffles and a special visit by guest speaker Martha Washington. A limited number of tickets are available. To purchase a ticket contact Laurie or Kelly at ziegelsce@gmail.com. Proceeds will benefit the Ziegels Sunday School program.

The church will also hold a special presentation “The Muhlenberg Family and the Lutheran Church in Early Pennsylvania” 1 p.m. May 10. This free event will be presented by Christopher Malone, curator of Historic Trappe. Light refreshments will be served. Bring a canned good for the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry. Morgenland Union Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, will hold a Wheels at the Grove car show 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10.

Brunch and lunch will be available for purchase in the pavilion behind the church. The event includes a basket raffle and rumble seat rides in a 1935 Ford for a small fee. For more information, call the church office at 610-395-0067.

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1249 Trexlertown Road, Trexlertown, will hold its spring bazaar 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 10. There will be over 100 baskets with gift cards and crafts, a quilt raffle, food, bake sale and attic treasures.
