Parkland Community Library offers May programs
Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will offer Baby Story Time for children ages birth to 15 months with an adult caregiver 9:30-10 a.m. May 2, 5, 9 and 12.
The library staff will share simple books, lap bounces, rhymes and songs – all designed to help babies build important social, motor and early literacy skills.
Toddler Story Time with Ms. Audrey and her ukulele will take place 10:30-11 a.m. May 2, 8, 9 and 15. This drop-in story time is best suited for ages 1-3 years old with a caregiver.
Bingo for adults will be held 1-2 p.m. May 2.
Card making with Sending Sunshine program for teens ages 12-18 will take place 4-5 p.m. May 2. Earn volunteer hours making cards for seniors.
The library will hold a drop-in Comic Craze event for all ages 1-4 p.m. May 3. Play Wii games, make buttons and make your own comic book at an afternoon of festivities.
DIY comic book participants will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a gift card to Cloud City Games.
Preschool Story Time for kids ages 3-5 with a caregiver will be held 10:30-11:15 a.m. May 5, 8, 12 and 15. Enjoy preschool stories, rhymes and songs with Ms. Audrey and her ukulele.
A Teen’s Dungeon and Dragon Night for students in grades seven through 12 will be held 6-8 p.m. May 5.
The Java Joy Coffee and Conversation Club for adults will meet 10:30-11:30 a.m. May 6.
Bring a favorite book and practice reading to the patient and gentle Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 6.
The library’s exciting and educational journey through the “Who Would Win?” interactive reading series by Jerry Pallotta for ages 7 and older will be held 6-7:30 p.m. May 7.
Yarn lovers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend the Fiber Arts Not Just Knitting group 2-4 p.m. May 8 and 15. Bring your materials for an afternoon of knitting with friends and swapping tips.
The Short Story Society will meet 2-3 p.m. May 8.
The Kids Highlights Club for ages 5-7 will meet to engage in fun, easy crafts and search for hidden pictures in Highlights magazines 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 8.
Adults join Patrick Crerand, director of the Master’s in Fine Arts in Creative Writing program at DeSales University for the library’s writing program Wordsmith 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 8.
Baby Massage Story Time with Whitney of Mama Aura Wellness will be held 10-11 a.m. May 10. The class is best suited for babies 8 weeks and crawling. Bring a yoga mat and/or a thick blanket for your baby to lie on. Participants will be seated on the floor.
A Dungeon and Dragon Night for adults will take place 6-8 p.m. May 12.
The library will host a Gentle Stretch Chair Yoga Class for adults 10:30-11:30 a.m. May 13.
This class is designed for individuals of all fitness levels who seek to improve flexibility, balance and mental clarity without the need for floor exercises.
Using a chair for support, participants will be guided through a series of gentle stretches, mindful movements and breathing exercises to promote relaxation and well-being.
The Senior Book Club will meet 3-4 p.m. May 13 at Luther Crest, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall. Residents and nonresidents are welcome to attend.
The Art of Mindful Breathing will take place 6-6:45 p.m. May 13. Join instructor Larissa Noto as she guides participants through breathing exercises.
Participants will leave this class with an accompanying handout with each of the breathing techniques and more to be able to weave the art of mindful breathing into their everyday life.
The library’s unplugged acoustic jam night for adults is scheduled 6:30-8 p.m. May 15. Come to play, sing or listen to this jam session which will include Old-time, Bluegrass and Celtic/Irish genres. Musicians will welcome guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer and upright bass.
The Young Critics Book Club will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 15.
