The Parkland High School softball team went 1-1 in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action last week.

The Trojans fell to Whitehall on the road 13-10 last Wednesday, but responded two days later with a 13-2 victory over Pocono Mountain West Friday afternoon.

In the game with the Zephyrs, Parkland scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Whitehall answered with three in the bottom-half of the frame. The Trojans regained the lead with four in the third and then the Zephyrs took back the lead with three in the fourth.

In the back-and-forth game, Parkland had another four-run inning in the top of the fifth to go back out in front 9-8, before Whitehall took a 10-9 advantage with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Trojans tied the score with one in the sixth, but the Zephyrs had the last laugh with five in the sixth.

The teams combined for 35 hits, with Parkland finishing with 17.

Ami Patel and Anna Belletieri both tallied three hits with Patel adding an RBI and scoring a run and Belletieri scoring twice.

Allison Hunsberger, Emma Kushner, Elizabeth Pinkham, Scerena Reed and Maria Moore all had two hits with Hunsberger and Kushner adding two RBIs. Amelia Dawson totaled a hit and an RBI, while also scoring a run.

In the win over the Panthers, the Trojans got out in front early with four runs in top of the first inning and then another five runs in the top of the second.

They ended the game early in the sixth after scoring once in the fifth and bringing around another three in the sixth.

Hunsberger, Patel, Pinkham, Dawson, Reed and Addison Fritzinger all finished with two hits with Pinkham, Dawson, Fritzinger and Reed contributing two RBIs. Hunsberger, Patel and Molley Heckenberger each added an RBI.

Fritzinger earned the victory inside the circle, throwing five innings, allowing just five hits and two runs while striking out seven.

Parkland, which improved to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference, played at Northampton Tuesday afternoon and hosts Central Catholic on Thursday afternoon.
