Wilson pulls out 11th-inning win
The Emmaus baseball team had a three-game win streak snapped last week with an 8-6 loss to Liberty. The Hornets bounced back with a win over Dieruff before falling to Wilson West Lawn over the weekend.
In the loss to the two-time defending district champion Hurricanes last Tuesday, April 1, the Hornets (5-3 overall 4-2 East Penn Conference) fell behind 7-0 early as Liberty scored four runs in the first inning and three in the second.
Aaron Fleetwood led the Emmaus offense, going 2-for-4 against Liberty and scoring twice. Logan Ravier went 2-for-5 and scored once. Bryan Kain had one hit and drove in three runs in the loss.
A day later the Hornets needed just six innings to beat Dieruff, 11-1.
Ravier went 3-for-4 and scored three times in the win. Josh Diaz was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs. Robbie Barnes had one hit and four RBI in the win.
Barnes also pitched 5.1 innings and allowed just two hits and one run while striking out eight Huskies.
Wilson pulled out a 6-5 win with a run on a fielder’s choice in the 11th inning Saturday.
The Bulldogs trailed 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning but made up the deficit to force extra innings. Emmaus scored a run in the first inning, three in the second and four in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead before Wilson began its comeback with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Ravier stayed hot with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate, including two runs scored for the leadoff hitter.
Fleetwood went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI.
Drew McGeehan pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two earned runs and five hits. Jaden Betz pitched two innings and allowed four hits and three runs. Ryan Hummel was tagged with the loss despite allowing no earned runs over 4.1 innings. He gave up five hits and struck out five batters.
