The Parkland baseball team started the season 2-1 overall and 1-1 in a pair of early East Penn Conference games.
The Trojans picked up a nonleague win Friday, March 21, beating Quakertown 17-1 in four innings.
Chase Brunner and Will Dobil both went 3-for-4 in an 18-hit effort from Parkland. Dobil also knocked in a pair of runs and scored three times while reaching base in all four plate appearances. Nathan Unger, Brady Derr and Peyton Scherff had two hits each in the win.
Brunner pitched all four innings and allowed just one hit.
Freedom handed Parkland it’s only loss of the young season, 6-1 last Thursday.
The Trojans matched the Patriots with five hits in the game, but five unearned runs were a factor in the outcome.
Five different Parkland batters had hits in the loss. Sawyer Marsteller pitched five innings and gave up one run for Parkland, while striking out three batters. Benjamin Weninger threw two innings and was not charged with any earned runs while taking the loss.
Parkland opened the season with an 8-2 win over Allen on Tuesday, March 18.
Jack Streeter had two hits to go along with an RBI and a run in the win. Unger (1-for-2, 3 RBI) was one of four Trojans with one hit each in the win.
Unger also pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two unearned runs while striking out eight Canaries and walking just three. Marsteller pitched a hitless inning and Steve Sepko allowed one hit and struck out two batters in one inning on the mound.
