Schauer pours in four goals against Freedom

The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team is off to a positive start to its 2025 regular season as the Hornets have won their first two games, both in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

Emmaus won its season opener 12-2 at Bethlehem Catholic last Tuesday, March 18, and then took down Freedom two nights later in the home opener, 13-9, at Memorial Field.

In the win over the Golden Hawks, eight different players found the back of the net. Dylan Maloney, Jewlien Torres, Kaleb Mains and Gabe Chies all finished with two goals to pace the attack. Alex Younker, James Schauer, Greyson Schmidt and Max Lipski all contributed one goal.

Maloney also finished with three assists, with Mains and Chies each adding one. Colin Garrett won 15 of the 18 faceoffs and Jack Sullivan ended with four saves in cage.

Against the Patriots, once again eight players scored, led by a season-best four goals from Schauer. Maloney and Mains both tallied two goals and Torres, Schmidt, Chies, Anthony Attar and Reilly Bechtel all found the back of the net once. Schauer recorded two assists and Maloney added one. Garrett won 65 percent (17-for-25) of his faceoffs and Sullivan finished with eight saves.

The Hornets trailed 1-0 after the first quarter, but used a six-goal second quarter to take the lead, which they wouldn’t relinquish.

Emmaus was at Easton Tuesday, hosts Northampton on Thursday night at Memorial Field and then travels to take on Wilson West Lawn on Saturday morning in a non-conference game.
