PHS girls lacrosse beats K- Kids, Eagles

The Parkland girls lacrosse team went 2-1 last week, with it’s only loss coming in a nonleague game against neighboring Northwestern Lehigh.

Parkland beat Northampton 16-6 last Tuesday before falling to the Tigers 16-12 on Thursday then bouncing back with a nonleague win over Exeter Saturday, 12-10.

In Saturday’s win, Lila Temchatin scored three goals while teammates Jade Caravello, Milla Hahn and Samantha Schippell each had a pair of goals and one assist. Addison Winfield scored twice and assisted once against the Eagles, while Olivia Esteban and Sydney Sensinger scored one goal each. Goalie Audrina Stewart made six saves.

On Thursday, Northwestern scored five quick goals in the first quarter before Parkland responded with goals from Schippell and Temchatin in a span of just under 2:30 to cut the to 5-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Two minutes into the second quarter the Trojans got another goal when Hahn took a pass from Winfield and fired an shot into the back of the netting to make it 5-3. Esteban then got into the act with her first goal of the game that left Parkland down just one goal with 10:04 left in the second quarter.

Northwestern scored the next four goals to push its lead to 8-4.

Winfield added a couple of goals and Temchatin added her second goal of the game and with 1:25 left before halftime, Parkland again was within a goal at 8-7.

Northwestern scored five goals to take what seemed to be a commanding 13-7 lead.

Just over a minute after the Tigers scored their 13th goal, Parkland got a pair of goals from Anna Sensinger. But Northwestern struck again with just :20 left to put the score at 14-9 after three quarters.

The trend of both teams scoring their goals in bunches was snapped in the final quarter when they went back-and-forth on goals. First, Winfield scored her third before Northwestern added a goal from Olivia Costa to make it 15-10. The Winfield to Anna Sensinger connection made it 15-11 before Northwestern added another goal for a 16-10 advantage. Even with just :15 left in regulation, the Parkland offense struck back when Anna Sensinger scored for the fourth time in the game
