The Emmaus High School boys tennis team capped its dual meet season with a 5-2 win over Central Catholic last Thursday, April 17.
The Hornets’ Chris Stone and Nick Stone won singles matches. Caleb Brashear and Ayden Kegley won the No. 2 doubles match, while Cole Stuchko and Sai Uppiretia took the third doubles match.
The win helped the Hornets finish strong after their only back-to-back losses of the season when they fell to Nazareth 4-3 on April 9 and dropped a 5-2 match against Parkland last Monday, April 14.
In the loss to the Trojans, Nick Stone won his singles match while Stuchko and Uppiretia were victorious in doubles action.
Against Nazareth, three Emmaus doubles teams earned wins as Brashear/Kegley, Stuchko/Uppiretia and Quinn Durkin/Aarya Sevek all won matches.
The Hornets (14-3 overall; 11-3 East Penn Conference) competed in the EPC Championships last week, held Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Freedom High School.
Nick Stone took first place in the No. 2 singles bracket for the Hornets. The senior was seeded second and knocked off top seed Manav Patel (Parkland) in the title match.
Stuchko and Uppiretia finished second in the No. 3 doubles bracket at the league tournament.
