EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My father’s name is Corey, my mother’s name is Amanda, I have one brother named Owen and a dog named Cooper.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is chemistry for a number of reasons. First of which being I have a fantastic and really fun teacher in Mr. Bradley who has really helped me learn and understand the material so I can perform to the best of my ability and has also made the class a great deal of fun, another reason why I really enjoy chemistry.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. In the realm of soccer, I have been awarded Junior Varsity Defensive Player of the Year as well as Varsity Defensive Player of the Year. In school, I have been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for most, if not all, marking periods. I am currently a member of National Honor Society and soon to be East Penn Press Student of Week.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in this organization impacted your high school experience?
A. I am currently involved in the high school soccer team here at Emmaus and have been a part of such a great organization since sophomore year. Being involved in this organization has had a very positive impact on my high school experience as it has led me to connect with teammates that I walk the halls with and represent my school on the field.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. I would consider my biggest challenge to date to be public speaking. Although I may be quite chatty with my friends in school or in other social settings, I simply struggle to overcome my nerves when it is my turn to do a formal presentation in front of a class or a group. It has always been something I have struggled with and I hope I can improve upon it in the future.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My next goal following high school graduation is to attend Lehigh University where I will be majoring in chemistry on a premed track and will hope to then go on to medical school and become a doctor.
Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?
A. If I got the opportunity to converse with a historically significant figure, I would choose the great basketball player, Kobe Bryant. His mentality and work rate are unmatched and I would love to pick his brain on how he came to be and get any tips he may have that can help me be better in life and to always keep working and pushing myself the same way he did to get to where he was before his tragic death.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. All I strive to be remembered for is for being a kind person, how that may come to be may vary. It may come in the form of being a good teammate, a good son, a good brother or any number of other possibilities that I will do my best to make a reality.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Keep moving forward, set goals for yourself and crush them. You’ll never know what you can achieve if you don’t keep pushing yourself onward and upward. Shoot for the moon; the worst that can happen is you land on the stars.
