The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team split a pair of games last week, winning an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matchup before falling in nonconference action two days later.
The Hornets got the better of Central Catholic 10-9 last Tuesday, April 15, and then fell at Boyertown 9-8 on Thursday in double overtime.
In the win over the Vikettes, Emmaus had a slim fourth-quarter lead and was able to hold on for an important EPC victory. Sarah Gross paced the attack with three goals and an assist. Rylie Poll and Sofia Isaksson both recorded two goals and an assist, while Taylor Younker tallied two goals. Kate Newhard rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist and Abby DiComes contributed two assists. Devin O’Neil finished with three saves in net.
Boyertown took the Hornets into double overtime before pulling out the win. After one scoreless overtime period, Boyertown found the back of the net in the second extra time to walk off its home field winners. Younker netted a game-high five goals and Gross, Isaksson and DiComes recorded a goal each. DiComes also added two assists to reach 100 career points. Newhard had one assist. O’Neil ended with nine saves.
Emmaus, which enters this week at 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference, has three nonconference games this week. The Hornets hosted Moravian Academy Tuesday, travel to Southern Lehigh on Thursday and welcome Crestwood on Saturday.
