EHS girls lax bounces back from early loss

The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team opened the 2025 regular season on the wrong side of the scoreboard, but responded with back-to-back victories last week, one of which was in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play. All three games were on the road.

The Hornets fell to Pennridge 18-3 in a nonleague game on March 14, then defeated Freedom 11-10 on Thursday before downing Central Bucks South 12-10 in a nonconference game this past Saturday afternoon.

Against the Rams, three different players found the back of the net, including Brooke Peterson, Sarah Gross and Sofia Isaksson. Abby DiComes tallied two assists. Devin O’Neil finished with six saves in goal.

In the dramatic, one-goal victory over the Patriots in the conference opener, Peterson made the most of her lone goal as it was the game-winner in a fourth-quarter comeback where her team entered the period down by two. Six other players scored, including two each from DiComes, Gross, McKenna Guzick and Taylor Younker, along with one by Isaksson and Kate Newhard. DiComes contributed four assists, while Gross, Guzick, Younker and Isakkson all had one. O’Neil made nine saves.

At CB South, Guzick and Rylie Poll both recorded hat tricks, with Guzick adding two assists and Poll one to lead the attack. Gross recorded two goals and two assists and each of DiComes, Peterson, Younker and Sarah Palazzo all had one. O’Neil finished with six saves.

Emmaus had its home opener this past Tuesday night when it hosted Easton in a conference matchup and is at Northampton on Thursday night. The Hornets welcome Wilson to Memorial Field on Saturday morning.
