Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th and Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, will host a “Seniors and Veterans Expo” 9 a.m. to noon at Whitehall Mall, 1259 Whitehall Mall, Whitehall.

The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, will hold a Spring Craft and Vendor Show 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, a gift basket auction, attic treasures, baked goods, perennial plants, refreshments and lunch.

The Allentown Music Club will present a musical spring recital program 2 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, Allentown. The Summer Music Camp Award will be presented as well as the Past Presidents’ Memorial Scholarship. The performers are Jacqueline Ballarin, Monika Short, Lynn German Long, Steven Silvonik, Santa Peters, Sherman Cox, The Asbury Trio including Jonathan Beitler, John Lucas and Rich Gonya. This recital is free and open to the public.

May 4

The Salisbury Youth Association will host a Community Day noon to 4 p.m. at the Salisbury Middle School, 3301 Devonshire Road, Allentown. Kids are welcome to sample various sports activities; adults are welcome to participate in a huge basket raffle (drawing 3 p.m.) and everyone can enjoy great food and the live music of local artist, Sam Houseal. May 6

The Emmaus Garden Club will host the program titled “Good Guys And Bad Guys In The Garden” noon at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St. Emmaus. Lori Metz, a Penn State Master Gardener, horticulturist, landscape designer, writer of many gardening and horticultural-related articles and judge for local garden clubs and flower shows, will talk about the beneficial insects and plants that attract them and as well as invasive species and how to control them in your garden. All are welcome to attend the meeting and light refreshments will be served.

Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild meets 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 Tilghman St., Allentown. The meeting will feature a program entitled “Bringing Quilting to the Next Generation,” by Rachel Rossi. There is a small fee for visitors, who are welcome. www.crazyquilters.org.

The 14th annual Lower Macungie Township Community Day 4-8 p.m. rain or shine at the community center, 3450 Brookside Road. Event includes food trucks, games, live music and much more.

May 7

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold free food distributions 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays in May. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Also May 14, May 21 and May 28. Signs will be posted for parking and entrance to pick up food.

May 9

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie will hold a free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. inside fellowship hall. A drive-through option is no longer available but guests can pick up a take-out meal. The menu will consist of ham, potatoes, string beans, roll and butter and dessert. The Seed Farm, 5854 Vera Cruz Road, Emmaus, will host its annual spring plant sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11. The sale is held rain or shine and features more than 200 varieties of locally grown frost and cold tolerant vegetable, herb and flower starters. Starter plants are non-GMO, pesticide-free and grown without synthetic chemicals. Staff and volunteers will be available to offer information on plant care.

Macungie Flea Market 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Memorial Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie, sponsored by the Friends of the Macungie Institute and Macungie Memorial Park. The deadline for the advance registration is May 1. Walk up registrations are available at an increased rate. The Friends of the Lower Macungie Library Spring Book Sale will be held in the Lower Macungie Library. Preview night for Friends’ members will be 5-7:30 p.m. May 15. Memberships will be available at the door. The sale is open to the public 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 16 and 17, with the bag sale starting 2:30 p.m. May 17.

The Lower Macungie Garden Club will hold a plant sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center, 3450 Brookside Road.

May 18

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, Old Zionsville, will hold an organ recital 4 p.m. to celebrate the church’s new organ. Allen Artist Rudy Lucente will perform. He has performed at Convention Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., Longwood Gardens and on the Wanamaker Organ in center city Philadelphia.

St. Ann’s Church, 435 S. Sixth St., Emmaus, will host “Fun in the Sun” noon to 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 1 in the school gym. Event includes raffle prizes, gift baskets, gift cards, silent auction, 50/50 cash drawing, bake sale and door prizes.

June 1

The Emmaus Kiwanis Club will host its 50th annual Pancake Festival 8 a.m. to noon at Emaus Fire Co. #1, 50 S. Sixth St., Emmaus.

June 11

Emmaus Garden Club bus trip to Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum. This 50-acre estate is located along the banks of the Delaware River, just north of Philadelphia. The site includes the Big House, a Greek Revival mansion built in 1797 and the extensive public gardens and arboretum. The bus departs Weis Market, Emmaus, 8:15 a.m. and returns to the market 5 p.m. The cost includes deluxe motor coach transportation and admission to the grounds. June 21

Upper Milford Township Recreation Committee, UMYA and Upper Milford Township will host a Jasper Day Celebration at Jasper Park, 4960 Vera Cruz Road, 1-4 p.m. The family-friendly event will include the Tour de Vera Cruz 5K Trail Run, the 1.5K Family Summer Stroll as well as games and fun on the park playground.

June 30

The Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will host Bob Roeder in the program “Moving Traditions of the Pennsylvania Germans” 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. Roeder will talk about the traditions, superstitions and other facets of moving from an old home to a new one used by Pennsylvania Germans.
