Barnes blasts six hits over two games

Robbie Barnes had six hits over two games to help the Emmaus baseball team enter this week on a three-game winning streak.

The Hornets beat Allen and East Stroudsburg North last week to improve to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in East Penn Conference games.

Against Allen last Wednesday, March 26, Emmaus battled back from a two-run deficit with four runs in the sixth inning and another two in the seventh for a 6-2 win.

Aaron Fleetwood (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs) drove in a pair of runs to tie the game in the sixth innings. Barnes (2-for-4) tripled to drive in Fleetwood for the winning run. Josh Diaz (2-for-4, 2 runs) also went 2-for-4 in the win.

Cole Moreau pitched four innings and allowed two runs while striking out seven and walking two batters.

Jaden Betz pitched three hitless innings and struck out four Canaries.

Emmaus got on the scoreboard much quicker against East Stroudsburg North, taking a six-run lead after scoring two runs in the first inning and four in the second en route to a 10-4 win.

Barnes went 4-for-4 against the Timberwolves while driving in a pair of runs and scoring once. Moreau (3-for-4, 2 RBI) and Fleetwood (2-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 R) also had multiple hits in the win.

Ryan Hummel pitched four innings and allowed two hits and no runs while striking out five batters. Drew McGeehan got the win with one hitless inning.

Emmaus is slated to take on Liberty (Tuesday), host Dieruff (Wednesday) and travel to Wilson (Saturday) this week.
