The East Penn School District is seeking substitute teachers through the guest teacher program. The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit offers the guest teacher program, which “provides quality substitute teacher training to individuals who have a bachelor’s degree with little to no teaching experience.”

A training initiative aimed at addressing the substitute teacher shortage in Carbon and Lehigh counties, this program is designed to equip participants with essential classroom skills. Upon completion, trainees receive an emergency permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, allowing them to work as substitutes in participating school districts and technical institutes.

The program prepares individuals to step into teaching roles effectively, ensuring schools have access to qualified temporary educators. Applications are due April 25.

The EHS Class of 2025 is selling hoodie sweatshirts until April 4. Students can order at the online store via the link in their “Class of” Schoology page and pick up the sweatshirt at EHS once delivered.

Emmaus High School’s Think Pink Club will host its first 5K run 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 at Camp Olympic Park. Registration is per person and ends midnight April 11. The run is a fundraiser to raise money for the organization Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Participants should wear white clothing, as event organizers will throw pink powder at them as they finish. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the race director at kristina.high@cancer.org.

Students can now drop off library books at the Hive entrance to the school as well as at the library.

EHS students will be off from school March 31 due to it being a professional development day for faculty and staff.

Marking Period 3 will conclude April 2.
