Two Parkland wrestlers made it to the medal round of last weekend’s Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic, held Saturday and Sunday at Liberty High School.

Junior Jorge Moya took fifth place at the tournament, while sophomore Matt Velez finished sixth at the event.

Moya dropped his 160-pound quarterfinal bout before bouncing back with a pair of consolation wins to reach the consolation semifinals.

A loss to Saucon Valley’s Cole Hubert sent Moya to the fifth-place match, where the Trojan pinned Emmaus’ Jesse Scott in 3:49.

Velez (121) opened the tournament with three straight wins before two losses to a pair of returning state qualifiers sent him to the fifth-place match. Brody Coleman (Boyertown) beat Velez in the fifth-place match by a 16-5 major decision.

Parkland finished 17th out of 30 teams at the tournament.
