Robert A. Nagle

Robert “Bob” A. Nagle, 92, of New Tripoli, died May 20, 2024. He was the husband of the late Gloria M. (Yeager) Nagle for 61 years and partner of Pamela S. Haas for nine years.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Lillian E. (Hensinger) Nagle.

He was a 1950 graduate of Allentown High School, a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees and was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Tau Chapter.

In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War aboard the U.S. Bon Homme Richard 1950-54 and earned the rank of 3rd Class aviation machinist.

He started his teaching career at Easton Area High School. He was director of Eastern Northampton County Technical School before becoming a founding director of Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, formerly Lehigh County Vocational-Technical School. He retired as superintendent from Northwestern Lehigh School District in 1986. After retirement, he became a self-employed consultant.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, where he served on several committees, including chairing the stewardship committee.

He was a past president of Easton Kiwanis Club and, most recently, was a member of Allentown-West Rotary Club, serving as a founding member of the local club foundation. He also served and was the first chairman of the Ontelaunee Restoration Committee in New Tripoli and was a founding member of Lynn Heidelberg Historical Society. He served as a Lehigh County Community College Trustee for 10 years and was a member of the Pennsylvania State Advisory Board.

In addition to his partner, he is survived by three sons, Keith A. of New Tripoli, Scott A. and wife Sheila of New Tripoli and Mark A. and wife Michele of Newark, Del.; six grandchildren, Christine Nagle and husband Marco Romano of Downingtown, Ryan and Erik of Delaware and Brad Nagle, Samantha Nagle and Trisha Rabenold and husband Harrison, all of New Tripoli; and a great-grandson, Matteo Romano.

He was predeceased by a son, Wayne A.; a daughter-in-law, Tina Marie; and two sisters, Anne Louise Maury and Phyllis Rau.
