Land proposals top board agenda

At the May 6 workshop meeting, Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners discussed a variety of ordinances relating to land development in the township.

First up was a minor subdivision and lot consolidation for Lehigh Valley Health Network. This resolution would take five existing parcels of land and consolidate them into two parcels of 5.421 and 147.326 acres.

Commissioners will also vote on two ordinances deferring sidewalks and curbing for 268 feet along Mechanicsville Road and 255 feet along MacArthur Road.

In other business, the board discussed two land development plans.

A Mister Carwash is being proposed for the property at 2160 MacArthur Road, previously Mavis Tire. The current building will be demolished, and in its place, a 5,434-square-foot tunnel car wash building, with self-service vacuums, will be constructed.

Notable changes, according to township Engineer Frank Clark, include the installation of sidewalks and increasing green space, such as trees and shrubs.

Taco Bell, 2113 MacArthur Road, is proposing to demolish its current building and create a new 2,690-square-foot building to allow for an expanded dual drive-thru. This action will result in less indoor seating.

Fire Chief Mark Bilder will be sworn in at the next commissioners’ meeting, it was reported.

The board next meets 7 p.m. May 13 at the municipal building, 3219 MacArthur Road.
