Maria Heidenwolf

Maria Heidenwolf, 94, died April 15, 2024, at home. She was the wife of the late Joseph Heidenwolf for 62 years.

Born in Raabfidisch, Hungary, she was a daughter of Maria (Mild) and Robert Deutsch. She grew up in a small German village near the Hungarian-Austrian border. In 1950, she and her sister Gisi crossed the Atlantic Ocean and settled in Allentown.

She attended Americanization classes and graduated with honors.

She worked in a silk factory and later as a travel agent.

She is survived by a son, Joseph and wife Mary E. of Allentown; three daughters, Sylvia Seltzer and husband Glen of Allentown, Cynthia Wise of Coplay and Mary Niles and husband Ray of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Deutsch and wife Terry.

She was predeceased by a son, John; two sisters, Gisi and Berta; a brother, Emil; and a great-grandson, Kyle.

There will be a viewing 9 a.m., followed by Mass 10 a.m., April 26 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall.

Contributions may be made to an animal shelter of choice.
