Northampton: Scam seminar set for April 18

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, with be hosting a Scam Jam with Fraud Bingo in conjunction with Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Queenship of Mary Catholic churches’ Young at Heart groups. The event is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. April 18 at Assumption BVM’s social hall, 2181 Washington Ave.

This seminar is intended to help protect senior citizens from scams.

Mako and Northampton Borough are planning to hold a free shredding event, set for 10 a.m.-noon April 20 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. Protect yourself from identity theft by having personal documents securely destroyed.

No RSVP is required for this event.

Pickup will be held noon-2 p.m. April 26 if you ordered a kielbasa sampler from Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1301 Newport Ave.

An all-you-can-eat pork and sauerkraut dinner, basket raffle and bake sale are planned for 4-7 p.m. April 27 at Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave. Dinners, for eat-in or takeout, include pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, dinner roll, dessert and beverages. Hot dog dinners for children, for ages 10 and under, will be available.

Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Assumption BVM Church will hold a breakfast 8 a.m.-noon April 28 in the social hall. The menu includes French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs or omelet, ham, sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, coffee, tea and juice.

There is a cost for adults and children.

Queenship of Mary Church and Assumption BVM are planning a bus trip to Sight and Sound Theatre May 10. The bus will depart 4 p.m. from the Queenship of Mary parking lot, 1324 Newport Ave. The show is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The cost includes a box lunch of Potts hot dogs, snacks, soda and water.

Holy Trinity Nursery School, 1235 Main St., is currently registering for the 2024-25 academic year.

The 2-year-old playgroup class will meet 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Class size is limited to 12 children. Children do not need to be toilet trained for this class.

The 3-year-old class meets 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Class size is limited to 16 children. Children need to be toilet trained for this class.

The 4-year-old class meets 12:15-2:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Class size is limited to 16 children. Children need to be toilet trained for this class.

Children must turn the appropriate age for the class by Sept. 1.
