Dr. Margaret S. Geosits

Dr. Margaret S. Geosits, 85, of Emmaus, died April 10, 2024, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Lehigh Valley Hospital –Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late John F. Geosits Jr. for 30 years. Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Graberitz) and Emil F. Sos Sr.

She graduated magna cum laude from the first coed class of Muhlenberg College in 1961. She attained a master’s degree in speech and theatre arts from the University of Pittsburgh in 1963 and a doctorate in educational administration from Lehigh University in 1978.

She was a passionate educator for 40 years, serving as an administrator and principal in the East Penn School District for the majority of her career.

“Marge” as her friends and family knew her best was a proud Rotarian, becoming the Emmaus Rotary Club’s first female member in 1990. She lived the organization’s motto of “Service Above Self” by volunteering in the community and helping those in need.

A lifelong Yankees fan, she enjoyed going to games in the Bronx and, as her health waned, on TV. She traveled extensively and loved visiting her “family” in Canada.

She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie J., of Toronto, Canada and granddog, Belle; sister, Marcella Sos (friend, Michelle Ochs); sister-in-law, Sandra (Anthony) Sos; nieces, Angie (Jim) Fogle, Amy Sos, Tammy (Alex) Bentz, Rosemarie (Jim) Shelanick; nephew, William Sos Jr.; many great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as her caregiver, Louella Kovacs. She was predeceased by brothers, Emil F. Sos Jr., Anthony J. Sos, William J. Sos.

Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org, local animal rescue or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. April 17 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. A viewing will be held 10-11 a.m. April 17.
