EHS unbeaten in first five matches

The Emmaus High School boys volleyball team has had a perfect start to its 2024 regular season.

The Hornets (5-0 overall, 3-0 EPC) have not lost a set this season and have had two wins in straight sets last week in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action, defeating Pocono Mountain East last Tuesday, March 26, on the road and then taking down Allen in the home opener at Emmaus High School last Thursday.

Emmaus won the match against the Cardinals 25-17, 25-11 and 25-21, and then finished on top of the Canaries by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-18 to win their first five matches of the season and an undefeated start.

The Hornets led from start to finish in the opening set at PM East and were never threatened in the second set. They had to hold on to a late lead from a rally that was stopped before a comeback could amount.

In the win against Allen, Emmaus set the tone for the match with a commanding victory in the opening set. The last two sets were a little bit more of a challenge, but the Green Hornets continued to push and would hold on late for the wins to take the sets and the match.

Colin Holden led the offensive attack with 11 kills. Ben Skekel contributed 29 assists and Grayson Answini finished with 11 digs.

Emmaus is at Pocono Mountain West tonight and then compete in the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday at Northeastern High School. The Green Hornets then hosted Nazareth this past Tuesday night.
