During Advent our nativity resides on top of the entertainment center. One morning as I was tidying up, I found Matt’s empty Guinness glass sitting in the middle of the Nativity. He had set it there when he turned off the DVD player the night before and forgotten to pick it back up. Despite the historical inaccuracy, the presence of a Guinness at the Nativity generated a lively discussion on the fourth Wiseman who brought the beer.

The copy deadline for the May 1 column will be April 24.
