Catty HS set to hire new football coach

Catasauqua has a new head football coach this week.

Former longtime Bethlehem Catholic head coach Joe Heinrich was expected to be, and was approved at the monthly school board meeting Tuesday evening. Heinrich will replace Travis Brett, who resigned after four seasons.

Brett posted an overall 22-23 record, but he did lead the team to four consecutive postseason appearances. Catasauqua finished 6-6 this past season. They lost a district playoff game to Williams Valley, 34-20, and also to Northampton, 47-7, in their annual Thanksgiving Day title.

Heinrich served as the Becahi coach from 2011-20 and compiled an overall 67-41 record. During his time there, Heinrich won four district titles and advanced to the state semifinals twice. His 67 wins are second all-time at the school to the late Bob Stem (173).

Heinrich is currently the principal at St. Joseph the Worker Elementary School in Orefield.
