John S. Polzer

John S. Polzer, 87, of Cementon, died March 2, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Patsy K. (Stewart) Polzer.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Stephen I. and Josephine (Horvath) Polzer.

He graduated from Northampton High School.

He was a specialist 4 in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.

He was a computer marker for the former Cross Country Clothes/Fashion 500 Group, Northampton, for 43 years until its closure in 1995. He then was a bus aide and van driver for Lehigh-Carbon Intermediate Unit from 1988 to 1999.

He was a life member of Our Lady of Hungary/Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Northampton.

He was a member of Catholic War Post 454, Northampton, where he was an honor guard member for a few years. He was a life member of and recording secretary for Laurel Fire Company. He was a life member of both Alliance Fire Company and of Northampton Liederkranz. He was a life member and past treasurer of Cementon Athletic Association. He was a former Biddy league coach.

He is survived by a son, Timothy J. and wife Denise of Coplay; two daughters, Susan J. and husband Robert Belcher of East Sandwich, Ma. and Christine L. and her husband John Csencsits of Northampton; two sisters, Patricia and her husband Michael Peapos of Lower Nazareth Township and Marie Faryna of Catasauqua; six grandchildren, Olivia and husband Tyler Howell, Zachary and wife Summer, Kelsey and Skyler Belcher, Kayla and husband Nicholas Cassium and Ian Csencsits; a great-grandson, Rhys Howell; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen; and four sisters, Pauline, Stella Taus, Anna Wiggins and Margaret Csencsits.

There will be a calling time 9:30-10:30 a.m. March 8 at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton, 18067.

Contributions may be made to the church or Good Shepherd Catholic School, c/o the funeral home.
