Offensive woes still plague Lady Falcons

The Salisbury girls basketball team suffered losses to Catasauqua and Panther Valley recently. In both games, the Falcons’ opponents had three players score in double-digits as Catasauqua beat Salisbury 48-20 and Panther Valley won 55-23.

Against Salisbury, Kendra Morgan finished with 11 points to lead the Falcons. Panther Valley (9-5 Schuylkill, 13-6 overall) opened by taking a 20-point lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Falcons 22-2. Salisbury fought back in the next quarter as Morgan, Ava Smarch, and Paige Ziegenfus all hit three-pointers. Panther Valley’s offense stayed kept the Panthers ahead 34-17 at halftime.

Salisbury (1-12 Colonial, 3-13 overall) scored just six more points in the second half as Panther Valley cruised to a victory.

Against the Rough Riders (8-6, 10-7), Morgan again led the Falcons with 12 points and Ziegenfus scored all five of her points in the final quarter on a three-pointer and two foul shots. Catty pulled away with a 23-point second quarter as they opened a 32-8 halftime lead.

There are four games remaining in the season as Salisbury takes on two of the tougher teams in the Colonial League this week when it hosts Northwestern (10-5, 14-4) Wednesday for the Falcons final home game of the season before traveling to Palmerton (12-0, 16-1) Friday night. They wrap up the season next week with back-to-back games against Southern Lehigh (3-10, 4-14) and Kutztown (1-10).
