LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Fundraising opportunities available at ACCHS

The upcoming weeks will feature several fundraisers and events. Please consider supporting Allentown Central Catholic High School and its programs.

Show your spirit for Viking boys lacrosse by ordering a Viking Lax mug through Feb. 19. You may pre-order yours by visiting https://forms.gle/8T2AVrnq1ygAuHbr7. Checks should be made out to ACCHS Booster Club, with “boys lacrosse” in the memo.

ACCHS Viking baseball will host a cash prize bingo Feb. 25 in the Lehigh Carbon Community College Community Services Center, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville. Doors open 2:30 p.m. and games begin 3 p.m. A pre-purchased ticket includes 10 games. The event’s capacity is limited, so purchase tickets early at https://acchsbaseball.company.site. You may also pre-order your game boards and pizza from Mario’s in Northampton via the link.

ACCHS girls soccer will hold its Easter Egg Hunt fundraiser March 22. The Vikettes will hide prize-filled eggs in your front yard between 8 and 11 p.m. March 22. The eggs will include toys and peanut-free candy. The cost per house includes two dozen eggs, but you may purchase an extra dozen. Place your order by March 15 and send payment via Venmo to @Meghan-Bubnis or write a check payable to “ACCHS Booster Club” and mail to 2930 W. Gordon St., Allentown, 18104.

The ACCHS cheerleading team will host a cheerleading camp 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17 for girls in grades K-8. To pay, bring cash or check the day of the camp. Please make checks payable to “ACCHS Booster Club” with “Cheer” in the memo line. The cheerleaders and their coaches will teach attendees basic cheerleading skills such as jumps, stunting and dance moves. Campers should pack their own lunch and water. Parents, please drop off your child via the alley “back doors” of Rockne Hall.

In order to minimize distraction and ensure campers have the best experience, parents are discouraged from staying during the event. The girls should wear sneakers and athletic gym wear. Once the camp finishes, girls will wait on the bleachers and parents should line up to receive their child. This is a great opportunity for future Vikettes to experience Central’s school spirit and fantastic cheerleaders!

The 2024 Spring Spirit Wear Store recently opened online and offers plenty of styles and items to choose from. The orders will be delivered to Central or your home roughly three weeks following the store’s closure. Go to https://corporateimagesinc.chipply.com/ACCHSSchoolSpiritWear/ now through Feb. 26 to place your order.

ACCHS will hold Viking Fest 2024 6:30-9:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at DeSales University, 2755 Station Ave., Center Valley. The evening will feature a complimentary open bar, hors d’oeuvres and dessert. Guests should sport their best green and gold attire. The 2024 Semper Fidelis Award will be presented to Dennis ‘60 and Lucille Eddinger and Hugh ‘61 and Jean ‘62 (Stalsitz) Gallagher. Shoutout to our 2023 Soccer Scholar Athlete nominees Molly Driscoll and Isaac Wheeler. The Lehigh Valley Soccer Scholarship Foundation recently honored them for their academic and athletic feats and passion for soccer.

The swim and dive season will soon come to a close, but two Vikings earned “Swimmer of the Meet” titles after their matchup against East Stroudsburg North Feb. 1. Congratulations to Junior Peque and John Tenezaca, who achieved a personal best in his 100 Free race.

The Red Cross Club will sponsor a blood drive 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. March 8. Participants will receive a free St. Patrick’s Day T-shirt, service hours and snacks. Students may alternatively support the blood drive by volunteering for the event or donating drinks/snacks. Sign up via the postings around the halls or outside the main office. Anyone interested should also join the Remind at redc2024 to stay updated.

The counseling department will continue to host its financial aid series the next two weeks. Presentations occur during extended homeroom in Room 206.

The meeting Feb. 21 will provide an overview of financial aid and Feb. 28’s presentation will explain scholarships and grants. Students do not have to register to attend.

Last week, all ninth, 10th and 11th graders attended course selection meetings to hear about their required and elective courses for the next academic year, along with special programs and opportunities available to them. Tenth and 11th grade students will select courses for next year Feb. 20 and ninth grade students will choose Feb. 21. Please consult with your child before course registration to ensure they will select the proper classes and fulfill any requirements.

Spring athletes may register now through March 1. Athletes may complete their Impact tests at home and must have a current physical (dated after June 1, 2023), and familyID registration. Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute administers free physicals now through the deadline and athletes may schedule theirs at local ExpressCARE sites. Check the Viking Weekly Newsletter for details.

The school will close Feb. 19 to celebrate Presidents Day. Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe.
