LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Photographer Gary Heller offers history lessons through photographs Feb. 29

Spring is nearing and volunteers are needed to help with cleanup days in Lower and Upper Milford townships.

Lower Milford Township asks potential volunteers to save the date of the township’s spring cleanup day April 20.

Volunteers will work 8 a.m. to noon and lunch for volunteers will be offered.

All volunteers will be provided with safety vests, gloves, trash bags, township maps and bottled water.

Volunteers are not responsible for transporting filled trash bags but are instead asked to mark the location of the filled bags on the provided map and return the map to the township office.

For additional details and/or to register as a volunteer, call 610-967-4949, ext. 111 or email assistant@lowermilford.org.

Upper Milford Township will join forces with Emmaus borough in the annual Earth Day cleanup 8:30 a.m. to noon also April 20.

Volunteers gather in Emmaus Community Park to choose assignments and then get to work at various sites in the township and the borough. Past events have included clearing yard debris and litter from the grounds at the Emmaus Public Library, Emmaus Community Park, Lenape Park, Jasper Park and along railroad tracks near Weis Market, Chestnut Street.

Document shredding and electronics recycling are usually offered to borough and township residents as part of the event and the cleanup is held rain or shine. Cleanup supplies such as gloves, bags and reflective vests are available.

To register as a volunteer and/or for additional details, email info@uppermilford.net or call 610-966-3223.
