Siggins scores 19 points, reaches career milestone

The Parkland girls basketball team remained unbeaten in the East Penn Conference with wins over Central Catholic and Allen recently.

The Trojans went up by 20 points in the first quarter en route to bearing Central Catholic 57-32 on Saturday evening. They followed that up by rolling to a big victory over Allen on Monday night, winning 68-40.

In the win over the Vikettes, Parkland scored 22 of the 24 points scored by the team’s combined in the opening quarter and the game was never really close the rest of the way. Three players finished in double figures in scoring, led by a game-high 17 points from Talia Zurinskas, including two 3-pointers. Delaney Chilcote tallied 12 points and Madi Siggins added 11. Aneri McGalla contributed seven points and Sophie Frank had six.

The Trojans jumped out early as well on the Canaries, leading 21-6 after the first quarter and were up 39-15 at halftime as they could once again cruise to a win. It was also another game where three players recorded double digits in points. Siggins netted a game-high 19 points, and scored her 1,000th career point in the game. McGalla tallied 11 points and Zurinskas added 10.
