LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

’Canes have busy slate this week

Liberty will have one of their busiest weeks of the season, as the Hurricanes have seven dual meets on the docket this week.

The action starts on Tuesday against Emmaus and continues on Wednesday at East Stroudsburg South before getting five matches on Saturday at the Quakertown Duals.

Head coach Brandon Hall is excited about the week ahead, knowing it’ll play a vital role toward qualifying for the postseason team tournament.

“With the seven matches this week we look to secure a spot in district duals,” Hall said. “The top eight teams in the district should become more clear as this week concludes.”

The Hurricanes come into the week with a 6-4 record and sit in seventh place of the District 11 3A power rankings. One of the teams below them is Emmaus (4-5), who is fighting for their postseason hopes and a win over Liberty, would certainly boost their place in the standings.

“We had a great dual with Emmaus last year, losing 29-26,” said Hall. “I expect this dual will be another close one. They have a lot of young talented kids on their team. Certainly our wrestlers remember last year’s results and will look to flip those results this year.”

Liberty should pull out a road win over the Cavs on Wednesday, but then have three bouts Saturday morning against Hatboro-Horsham, Washington (WV) and West Chester Rustin before the afternoon matchups that aren’t announced yet.

“This is another opportunity for our entire team to compete in the same place,” Hall said. “Varsity will get five matches and all JVs will get at least three matches so that’s a positive for sure. This will give us quite the challenge this weekend.”
