EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My dad’s name is Edward, my mom’s name is Amy and my dog is named Maggie.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is history because I like learning about how the past impacts the world we live in today.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have been on the Principal’s Honor Roll since freshman year and I have also received the Academic Excellence Award the past three years. I am a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and French National Honor Society. I also received the AP Scholar Award. During my time on the cross-country team, I have received the Rookie of the Year and Extra Mile Awards and I was named the Girls Cross-Country Scholar-Athlete this fall.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am on the cross-country, winter track and spring track teams. I am also the secretary of the astronomy club and play cello in the orchestra, of which I am also the treasurer. Being involved in these activities has helped me to meet a variety of people and I have made many friends through my involvement.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge is balancing my time between schoolwork and athletics. My time-management skills have greatly improved since I was a freshman, but finding time to study, train and still be able to relax is something that I still struggle with as a senior.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. Next year I will be attending Dickinson College, where I will also be on the cross-country and track teams.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. One person I hope to emulate is the musician Tom Morello because of his commitment to political activism and social justice. I think being willing to stand up for the rights of others is an admirable trait necessary to bring about change in the world.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for having a sense of humor, while also being hardworking. While putting in hard work is necessary to reach your goals, I think it is also necessary to be able to laugh even when things aren’t going your way.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Don’t be afraid to be yourself! If you show up as your authentic self, you will meet so many more people who share your interests than you would otherwise.
