Tranguch scores quick pin in loss to Easton

Teagan Caciolo, Jesse Scott and Emilio Albanese all recorded decisions and Massimo Tranguch picked up a pin as the Emmaus High School wrestling team fell to perennial District 11 power Easton on the road last Wednesday night, 41-15, in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference dual match.

The Red Rovers opened the match with a pin at 121 pounds to take an early 6-0 lead, but the Green Hornets quickly answered at 127 pounds as Caciolo earned a 5-2 decision over Benjamin Riehl to cut his team’s deficit in half. After that, Easton ran off a match-high four straight victories, two decisions, a major decision and a pin. to build a comfortable lead.

Emmaus halted the streak at 160 as Scott earned a 3-2 decision over Quentin Hammerstone. Two bouts later, Tranguch (189) pinned Shae Linegar in just 49 seconds to cut the deficit to 28-12 with four bouts remaining.

After the Red Rovers recorded a pin and a decision at 215 and 285, respectively, Albanese got the Green Hornets back in the scoring column at 107 with an 8-6 decision over Noah Fenner and three more points. Easton finished off the match with a 13-3 major decision at 114.

Emmaus will compete in the Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic this Thursday and Friday, hosted by Liberty High School. The next EPC match for the Hornets is next Wednesday, Jan., 3, a Pocono Mountain West.
