Good night for bonfire

PRESS PHOTOS BY DONNA GEWERTZ A Whitehall Township firefighter conducts a safety check after ignition and the pile of old pallets begins to rage in flames during a bonfire, held Oct. 26 on the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus.
Whitehall High School Principal Dr. Peter Mayes catches the spirit of the evening and the school's bonfire with the members of WHS Zephyrs cheerleading squad.
The silhouettes of the very tall members of the Dani Long Legs group, who participated in the Whitehall Halloween parade held the previous night, wave to the crowd of onlookers.
Flames fill the night sky as students, school alumni and fans gather around the bonfire in support of the WHS football team. The bonfire provides an opportunity to meet old friends and for current students to take selfies against the backdrop of fire.
Members of the rock band Crippled Moonshine perform during the school event. It is a tradition for the band to play at the event as the band members are all WHS alumni from 1985 through 1989. The bonfire was one of the musicians' first performances when members formed the band while in high school.
